Lollapalooza 2007

Ahhhh, after three music-filled days, now all I hear is silence. That, and the sound of David ferociously typing a carefully worded letter to the fine folks at Robinson's Ribs... (see below) Our ears need a little rest after three very full days of festing. My favorite part of the weekend hands down was spending time with our friends/family: Laura, Nancy and Justin. It's always refreshing to hang out and have late-night conversations with people you've known longer than 2 months.

So, from the fest... musical highlights, old favorites, and new bands to keep up with: Rodrigo y Gabriela, the frontman from Ghostland Observatory ("That chick needs a shave!"), people walking around with bubbles and squirt guns--they got to wear costumes, Regina Spektor (minus 2 songs), Paolo Nutini, BEN HARPER, Ben Harper and Eddie Vedder playing together Friday night, getting so close to Ben Harper I was leaning on the barricade!!!!, Ryan Shaw, G. Love, I'm From Barcelona, Pete Yorn, a poignant painting in the artist's section (photo to the left), Snow Patrol, Patti Smith, Spoon, the flag-waving little boy on stage with Stephen Marley, free fans at the AT&T digital oasis, Amy Winehouse, leaving early Sunday night and watching Pearl Jam on streaming video, and David's dancing video:

Lowlights: The sound bleed, dirty feet at the end of each day, Polyphonic Spree, Slightly Stoopid, and lots of unnecessary cussing from multiple artists.

Generally speaking, it was worth our time, money, and near-sunstroke. I think this fest is probably taking a far back seat to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and Austin City Limits to follow.
