Chi-Town, the Honeymoon Stage

We really need to start taking our camera around on our adventures. Above is a google image from the beach we went to this afternoon. After nearly four weeks of living in our new home, we're coming to the conclusion that among cities we've lived in and visited, Chicago is one of the coolest, most interesting and lively! Since we've been here we've gone to a Gospel music festival, Blues festival, book fair on Printer's Row, a couple of fun gatherings with friends, the BEACH, which is a 15 minute bus ride from our flat, two very unique and Christ-centered churches, tons of great restaurants, parks, and on and on. I'm completely overwhelmed and hyperactive about wanting to do and see everything. My boss gave me a really cute box of cards that have 50 different walking tours of the city, and our street is mentioned on our neighborhood's walking tour. Fun! And of course there are the architectural boat tours that go on all three forks of the river...

David is getting acquainted with Huber+Suhner's product line and works with a bunch of really great people. I'm loving my new job at Liquid Productions and learning all about the business theater/events industry--also getting to put my design skills to use. I am continually blown away at how God hand-picked me to be in this job. It is an absolute perfect fit for my skill set and personality. I'm blessed to be working with a very knowledgeable and experienced boss who is a great encourager.

Strangely enough, we've been pretty social so far. I've reconnected with a friend I met while studying in Tokyo in college. Our landlords have been very welcoming and took us out to dinner last weekend. We keep meeting random strangers who are all really nice! The dogs help us to meet other dog people, too. We've spent time with different folks from David's work, including Mark, who is turning out to be a good friend. He and his family are in the process of moving here from Switzerland, and will return in a couple years--right around the same time we hope to move there as well. We'll see! Who knows where and what God has planned for us. After the past 6 months, we know first hand that our ways are not His ways, and His ways are mysterious and good.
